The 3M Decatur facility required a tailored ultrapure water (UPW) system to meet the strict demands of their operation. The primary goal of the project was to store and polish UPW before distributing it efficiently to various points of use. However, several challenges emerged during the design and installation process, which necessitated careful planning and specialized solutions.
We faced the following challenges:
- The system had to be custom-built to fit within a limited room space.
- Maintaining the required level of purity demanded the use of high-quality, specialized components.
- Welding the system’s fittings required specialized butt fusion equipment to ensure secure and efficient connections.
To overcome these challenges, a custom design was developed to fit within the confined space without compromising functionality. High-purity components were selected to maintain the necessary standards, and specialized butt fusion equipment was used to properly assemble the system, ensuring a high level of performance and purity.
